1914

J.B. Morin did his first catering jobs filling lunch pails lowered from the factory behind the diner

1930

The Morin family buys a second diner on South Main St.—Home of the present-day Morin's Diner

1934

Customers come to the diner for catered meals

1946

Russell Sr returns from WW II and buys his brother's portion of the business

1947

Russell Sr enters the off-premise catering business

1957

Russell Jr starts his career in the pot sink of Morin's Diner

1967

Russell Morin Jr earns a BS in Hospitality Admin from Cornell University's Hotel School and enters the army where he manages the kitchen of an officer's club

1970

Russell Jr earns an Associate's Degree at the Culinary Institute and goes into the family business

1972

Morins Catering becomes the official caterer for the New England Patriots until Bob Kraft takes the business in-house

1982

Morins Catering separates from the restaurant and builds a commissary which will eventually be expanded three times

1992

Morins Catering becomes Fine Catering by Russell Morin, moving into the Providence/Newport markets

1996

Perfect Picnics by Russell Morin begins serving Family BBQs and Company Picnics

1999

Fine Catering by Russell Morin named “Caterer of the Year” by RI Hospitality & Tourism Association

1999-2001

Fine Catering by Russell Morin handles all of the catering and foodservice for the athletes and VIPs at the Gravity Games held in Providence, RI

2004

Russell Morin merges with Kathleen's Catering and is named caterer at the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport, RI, assuming management of the courtside restaurant, concessions and the induction dinners

Russell Morin Jr. is named "Small Business Leader of the Year" by the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce

2005

Casual Catering is officially launched to serve the corporate and social markets

2007

Named caterer for the grill room and all events at Newport Country Club

Michael Morin enters the family business

2010

The name is changed to Morin's Express Catering

Since establishing the Corporate Rewards Program entitled "Morin's Dollars" in 2005, the corporate client base now exceeds 250

Morin's Diner debuts on The Food Network's “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives”
